Nainital, owing to its location, is colder than the rest of the hilly tract of Kumaon region. During monsoon, it gets heavy rainfall. The climate therefore, is damp. The neighbouring areas of Almora and Ranikhet are warmer than Nainital. Similarly humidity in Nainital is less than in other hill towns. The monthly maximum and minimum temperature of the town ranged between Summer 15 C to 28 C, Winter 10 C to 0 C. The weather of Nainital is largely influenced by the Himalayan terrain it is surrounded with. Nainital has a pleasant to nippy weather in approximately all the months except during winters.

The temperature rises to a maximum of 30 C and the minimum temperature is recorded at 10 C during this season. Thus, the summer months remain the 'peak season' in Nainital and the place remains packed with a large number of tourists from the adjoining plains. Light woolens are advisable during this season.
